· on 5-8th of March, 2002 the Statistical commission of the United Nations at the thirty third session having considered results of realisation of the 2000 World Population and Housing Census Program has designated supposed actions for the Statistical division of the United Nations for successful assistance to realisation of 2010 World Population and Housing Census Program (2005-2014).

· on 2-5th of March, 2004 the Statistical commission of the United Nations at the thirty fifth session has made the decision on creation of a group of experts for determination of priority objectives of censuses, working out of well structured web site for data and experience of censuses exchange and creation of fund for 2010 World Population and Housing Census Program.

· on 13-14th of September, 2004 in New York on a symposium of the United Nations on population and housing censuses the wide range of the actions connected with the 2010 World Population and Housing Census Program has been defined; concrete questions and areas in which, taking into account experience and the lessons taken from decade of censuses of 2000, the further measures are required were defined; priority objectives of the Group of experts for consideration of the major questions, concerning planning of 2010 population and housing censuses were defined, and formulations of a draught resolution for consideration by the Statistical commission, concerning working out of the 2010 World program were developed.

· on 15-17th of September, 2004 in New York at meeting of the Group of experts of the United Nations for consideration of the major questions, concerning planning of a cycle of 2010 population and housing censuses, a number of recommendations and conclusions, concerning technical and scientific aspects of arising questions, such as alternative variants of censuses, the basic sets of national data, updating and revision of principles and recommendations concerning population and housing censuses has been made. Participants of the meeting have also defined a scope for experts group concerning the 2010 World Population and Housing Census Program. Having underlined necessity of providing successful carrying out of a following cycle of censuses, the Symposium and the Group of experts have called the Statistical commission to present to Economic and Social Council information for resolution acceptance on the 2010 World Population and Housing Census Program.
