According to the Republic of Kazakhstan Law "About the state statistics", the Agency of Statistics of the Republic of   Kazakhstan is the authorized body forming and realizing the state policy in statistics, developing and carrying out programs on statistics improving in Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the decree of the President of  the Republic of  Kazakhstan on June, 30th, 1998" About the further measures on optimization of state bodies ", the Agency of Statistics  of   the Republic of   Kazakhstan is the central executive office which is not a part of the Government. The Agency of Statistics of   the Republic of   Kazakhstan is independent in the terms of methodology and a technique of the statistical account, presides at the territorial divisions, co-ordinates activity of the subordinated organizations. Standard legal of the authorized body on the carrying out statistics are obligatory for all physical persons in the cases established by the legislative organs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also for legal bodies.

The primary goals of the Agency of Statistics of   the Republic of   Kazakhstan are:

 The Agency of Statistics  of   the Republic of   Kazakhstan assigned to carries out following basic functions:  

        ·     develops offers on formation of the state policy in the state statistics;

       ·  · carries out cooperation in area of statistics with foreign countries and the international organizations, conclude agreements and the contracts directed on development of the state statistics;

       ·  · develops statistical methodology according to the international statistical standards;

       ·  · carries national censuses above the statistical works planning;

       · · develops and confirms programs of the state statistical supervision;

       ·· сo-ordinates statistical activity of the state structures on the basis of the programs statistical supervision;

       ·  carries out methodological management of the economy account;

       ·· publishes standard legal acts concerning the state statistics;

       ·   carries out nation-wide statistical supervision according to the plan of statistical works;

       ·  · provides state structures with the statistical and analytical information in the order established by the Government of the Republic of  Kazakhstan;

       ·  · conducts the State statistical registers according to the international standards;

       ·  · provides availability of the summary statistical information for any legal and physical persons;

      ·  · represents the statistical information to the international organizations according to obligations under  the operating contracts, and also exchanges  the statistical information with foreign countries;

      ·  · provides physical and the legal bodies representing the information to the state statistics bodies,  with statistical forms and instructions on their filling;

      ·  · provides accumulation, conducting and actualization of information-statistical databases about economic and social situation of the republic and its regions;

      ·  · organizes research works in statistics;

      ·   carries out the control over the primary and statistical account of  businessmen and legal bodies;

      ·   carries out the control over methodical instructions execution.
